## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS TESTING A GYROPLANE WHICH HE BUILT. ACCORDING TO AN EYEWITNESS, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAD NO STATED INTENTION TO FLY. HE APPLIED TAKEOFF POWER, GOT AIRBORNE, THEN LANDED ON THE RUNWAY. ON THE FOURTH EVENT, HE ATTAINED A HEIGHT OF 150 FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT YAWED LEFT. AN OBSERVER ON THE GROUND ADVISED THE PILOT TO GO AROUND. PILOT SUBSEQUENTLY DESCENDED UNDER POWER INTO A CORNFIELD SOUTH OF RUNWAY 18. HE SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES IN THE CRASH.
