## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT MADE A HARD LANDING LEFT OF THE CENTERLINE OF RUNWAY 12, RESULTING IN A PROP STRIKE. HE EXECUTED A LATE GO-AROUND, BUT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT, STRIKING THE VASI INSTALLATION WITH A WINGTIP. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY ENVIRONMENT, CROSSED A SERVICE ROAD, AND CAME TO REST IN A WOODED AREA JUST NORTH OF THE APPROACH END OF RUNWAY 30.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12LA645](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12LA645), Sep 20, 2012: Cessna 177B (N34722), Branson, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain airplane control during an attempted go-around in dark night conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
