## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING THE LANDING PHASE OF FLIGHT, THE PILOT INITIATED A STRAIGHT IN APPROACH TO RUNWAY 31 LOCATED AT KTEL. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY ONE THIRD DOWN THE RUNWAY WITH THE FLAPS IN THE FULL UP POSITION. DURING THE ROLL OUT, THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED DOWN THE RUNWAY AND FAILED TO SLOW TO THE PILOT'S SATISFACTION. THE PILOT ABORTED THE LANDING AND INITIATED A "GO AROUND". THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED BEYOND THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE AIRPORT PERIMETER FENCE AND THEN IMPACTED THE GROUND 10 YARDS BEYOND. TIRE TRACKS CONSISTENT WITH THE WIDTH OF THE MAIN LANDING GEAR WERE OBSERVED IN THE TALL GRASS BEGINNING APPROXIMATELY 50 YARDS PAST THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THESE TRACKS CONTINUED FOR APPROXIMATELY 64 YARDS UP TO THE AIRPORT PERIMETER FENCE. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON THE LOWER ENGINE COWLING AND MAIN LANDING GEAR. THE NOSE GEAR ASSEMBLY WAS FOUND SEPARATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND LAYING TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT. IMPACT MARKS ON THE SIDE OF THE FUSELAGE INDICATE THE FLAPS WERE IN THE FULL UP POSITION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12LA649](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12LA649), Sep 19, 2012: Beechcraft A23-24 (N3629Q), Tell City, IN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper touchdown point during landing and the resultant runway excursion during the aborted landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
