## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT APPROXIMATELY 12:30PM, A LICENSED SKYDIVER WHO HOLDS A USPA C-LICENSE WITH ABOUT APPROXIMATELY 255 JUMPS, MADE A SKYDIVE IN WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ AT SKYDIVE CROSS KEYS. THE JUMPER IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY PARTICULAR SKYDIVING CLUB.THE JUMPER MADE A GROUP SKYDIVE WHICH WENT AS PLANNED, DEPLOYED HIS MAIN PARACHUTE AND WAS IN CONTROL. THE REST OF THE GROUP HE WAS JUMPING WITH WERE ABLE TO FLY SAFELY BACK TO THE LANDING AREA, BUT THE JUMPER ENDED UP IN A POSITION DOWNWIND OF THE LANDING AREA. ACCORDING TO THE JUMPER, HE MADE AN ATTEMPT TO LAND HIS PARACHUTE IN A VERY SMALL FIELD SURROUNDED BY BUILDINGS AND TREES. HE MADE ATTEMPTS TO CONTROL THE PARACHUTE WITH HALF BRAKES AND FLAT TURNS TO LAND IN THE FIELD BUT FOUND HIMSELF OVERSHOOTING, AND IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID THE SURROUNDING BUILDINGS, HE MADE A MORE AGGRESSIVE TURN LOW TO THE GROUND. THIS CAUSES THE PARACHUTE TO INCREASE IN SPEED AND IS NOT A STABLE CONDITION FOR LANDING.THE JUMPER SUFFERED A BROKEN HIP AND FEMUR AND A BROKEN JAW. AN AMBULANCE WAS DISPATCHED AND HE IS PRESENTLY AT COOPER HOSPITAL AWAITING SURGERY. PINS WERE PLACED IN HIS KNEE AND HE WAS PLACED IN TRACTION UPON ARRIVAL AT THE HOSPITAL.THE AIRCRAFT TAIL NUMBER IS N121PM.THE RESERVE PARACHUTE (WHICH WAS NOT DEPLOYED) WAS INSPECTED AND PACKED ON AUGUST 25, 2012. THE PACKING DATA CARD WAS NOT FOUND WITH THE EQUIPMENT, BUT A COPY OF THE RIGGER'S LOGBOOK RECORD WAS PROVIDED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
