## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS A CESSNA 182P MODIFIED FOR SHORT TAKEOFF AND LANDING (STOL). THE AIRCRAFT WAS OPERATED FROM THE PILOT'S PRIVATELY OWNED GRASS RUNWAY. THE PILOT STATED THE WIND WAS A LIGHT QUARTERING HEADWIND FROM THE RIGHT. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED A SHORT FIELD TAKEOFF USING STOL PROCEDURES. AFTER REACHING ROTATION SPEED, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE LEFT. THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE TAIL AND LEFT WING STRUCK THE GROUND, AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON ITS NOSE LESS THAN 100 FEET FROM THE LEFT EDGE OF THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN12CA665](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN12CA665), Sep 30, 2012: Cessna 182 (N82GS), Tiskilwa, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of control while preforming a short field takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
