## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT TOOK OFF FROM A PRIVATE FAMILY AIRPORT HEADING WEST AND TURNED LEFT TO A HEADING OF EAST FOR THE DOWNWIND LEG WHILE CONTINUING TO CLIMB. WHEN THE POWER WAS RETARDED TO SET CRUISE POWER, THE ENGINE QUIT. THE PILOT TURNED SLIGHTLY NORTH TO CLEAR SOME WIRES ALONG THE ROAD AND WENT THROUGH A GAP IN THE TREES JUST NORTH OF AN APARTMENT COMPLEX. AFTER TOUCHDOWN, TO AVOID A DITCH AND SOME TREES, LEFT RUDDER AND BRAKE WAS APPLIED TO GROUND LOOP AND STOP THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT CAUGHT THE GROUND AND PITCHED UP AND OVER ENDING UPSIDE DOWN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13LA015](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13LA015), Oct 16, 2012: Young Robert Herman Woody Pusher (N10RY), Cloverdale, IN, minor damage. Probable cause: The total loss of engine power due to carburetor icing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
