## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT THE WESMAR AERODROME IN DARBYVILLE OHIO N667DF WAS TAKING OFF ON A GRASS STRIP WHILE TOWING A HANG GLIDER. AT MID FIELD THE PILOT TURNED NORTH INTO THE WIND. UPON REACHING AN ALTITUDE OF APPROXIMATELY 80 FEET THE ENGINE SEIZED. THE PILOT RELEASED THE HANG GLIDER AND PROMPTLY WENT INTO A STALL SPIN. THE LEFT WING IMPACTED THE GROUND FIRST PIVOTING ON OVER TO THE COCKPIT AREA AND RIGHT WING CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE, TO THE AIRCRAFT, AND BREAKING THE PILOTS LEFT ANKLE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13LA055](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13LA055), Nov 4, 2012: Central Ohio Dragonfly Club DRAGONFLY-C (N667DF), Darbyville, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The total loss of engine power due to a cold-seizure event that occurred at a low altitude, which precluded the pilot's recovery from an inadvertent aerodynamic stall/spin.
