## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON HIS FIRST STUDENT SOLO FLIGHT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS LANDING THE AIRCRAFT. HE REPORTED THE AIRCRAFT PORPOISED DURING THE LANDING EVENT. HE FELT A VIBRATION IN THE ENGINE AND TAXIED BACK TO THE HANGAR. HE THEN CONTACTED HIS FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR TO REPORT WHAT HAD HAPPENED. HE THOUGHT HE HAD JUST A PROP STRIKE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DETERMINED THE FIREWALL ALSO SUSTAINED DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13CA098](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13CA098), Nov 15, 2012: Cessna 172N (N6231F), Moline, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's misjudgment of the landing flare, which resulted in a bounced landing.

## Other reports on N6231F (2)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19810426030539I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19810426030539I), Apr 26, 1981: Cessna 172N (N6231F), Ft Wayne, IN, Minor damage. Hard landing at night. Minor wing damage.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
