## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DECEMBER 13, 2012, THE PILOT OF N1901Z WAS DEMONSTRATING A SHORT FIELD LANDING IN A CONVENTIONAL GEAR CESSNA 150 WHEN THE LEFT GEAR LEG FRACTURED SHORTLY AFTER TOUCHDOWN. THIS RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. INSPECTION OF THE BROKEN GEAR LEG REVEALED A PRE-EXISTING CRACK IN ADDITION TO EVIDENCE OF IMPROPER MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES FOR CORROSION REMOVAL. AN INSPECTION OF THE RIGHT GEAR LEG ALSO SHOWED THE SAME IMPROPER MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES FOR CORROSION REMOVAL. THE PILOT, WHO ALSO HOLDS AN A&P MECHANIC CERTIFICATE, PERFORMED THE MAINTENANCE REFERRED TO ABOVE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Probable cause: The collapse of the left main landing gear during the landing roll, as a result of fatigue cracking. Contributing to the accident was the improper maintenance of the landing gear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
