## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT CHARLESTON AFB AERO CLUB. AIRCRAFT TOOK OFF AND WENT TO THE PRACTICE AREA OVER FOLLY BEACH SC. AT APPROXIMATELY 0930 THE INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT WERE PRACTING MANUEVERS AND DURING ONE MANUEVER THEY PUT THE GEAR DOWN AND NOTICED THAT THE GEAR DOWN LIGHT DID NOT COME ON AND THE GEAR WARNING HORN DID NOT GO OFF. PILOT AND STUDENT CYCLED THE GEAR SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE SAME RESULTS. DUE TO THE LIGHT TRAFFIC, PILOT AND STUDENT DECIDED TO LAND AT CHARLESTON EXCUTIVE AIRPORT. AS THE AIRCRAFT APPROACHED THE RUNWAY THE PILOT INSTRUCTED THE STUDENT TO LOOK FOR THE SHADOW OF THE NOSE GEAR. THE STUDENT STATED THAT IT APPEARED BY THE SHADOW THAT THE NOSE GEAR WAS DOWN. THE PILOT CONTINUED TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT HELD THE NOSE UP WITH THE ELEVATOR. WHEN THE ELEVATOR LOST AUTHORITY THE NOSE GEAR TOUCHED DOWN AND COLLAPSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
