ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2012 AT APPROXIMATELY 4:30PM EASTERN TIME, A 1996 EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR-BUILT KITFOX 4-1200, SINGLE ENGINE, PISTON POWERED, HIGH WING AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED AN INCIDENT IN WHICH THE AIRCRAFT BECAME INVERTED AFTER LANDING ON AN UNIMPROVED BEACH AREA OF A SMALL ISLAND IN THE SAGINAW BAY, LAKE HURON, NEAR SEBAWAING, MICHIGAN.

THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS PRACTICING LANDINGS IN THIS AREA AND ON THE THIRD LANDING, THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR BECAME CAUGHT IN THE ICE AND CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP NOSE-OVER AND BECOME INVERTED.
