## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 12/27/2012 AT 0730 PST, A CFI AND STUDENT WERE PREPARING FOR FLIGHT IN A NON-MOVEMENT AREA WHEN THE ENGINE QUIT WHEN THE CFI LEANED THE AIRCRAFT FOR TAXI. THE AIRCRAFT WOULDN'T RESTART. THE CFI TOLD THE STUDENT TO TURN OFF THE MASTER AND MAGS PRIOR TO BOTH EXITING THE AIRCRAFT, HOWEVER ONLY MASTER WAS TURNED OFF. THE CFI TURNED THE PROPELLER MANUALLY, THE ENGINE STARTED BRIEFLY, AND THE CFI WAS STRUCK IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD BY THE PROPELLER. CFI WAS TRANSPORTED TO HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS INJURIES.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
