## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED THAT AFTER A HALF HOUR FLIGHT HE RETURNED TO 3H0 FOR LANDING ON RUNWAY 18. WEATHER WAS VFR WITH WIND FROM THE SOUTHWEST AT 10 MPH, PRESENTING LESS THAN A 5 MPH CROSSWIND COMPONENT. THE APPROACH WAS NORMAL, STABLE WITH AN AIRSPEED OF 70 MPH WITH THE FIRST POSITION OF FLAPS EXTENDED. DURING THE FLARE/ROUND-OUT THE AIRCRAFT LOST LIFT AND CONTACTED THE RUNWAY HARD AT WHICH POINT THE LEFT LANDING GEAR BENT AFT AND TWISTED SO THE TIRE TURNED OUTBOARD. THIS CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER TO THE LEFT AND DEPART THE RUNWAY ONTO A GRASSY AREA WHERE THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST TIPPED UP ON ITS NOSE. TIRE SKID MARKS INDICATE THAT THE AIRCRAFT MADE INITIAL GROUND CONTACT IN THE CENTER OF THE DISPLACED THRESHOLD AREA APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET BEFORE THE RUNWAY BEGINNING MARK.THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING TIP, THE LOWER COWLING, PROPELLER, THE ENGINE MOUNT (WHICH IS INCORPORATED WITH THE LANDING GEAR ATTACHMENT), LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR ASSEMBLY, WINDSHIELD BROKEN AND THE FUSELAGE SHOWED INDICATION OF TWISTING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13CA120](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13CA120), Dec 30, 2012: Robidoux Lionel Wittman W 10 (N641TD), Hobart, IN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain adequate airspeed during landing, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall and subsequent hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
