## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JANUARY 8, 2013, ABOUT 1224 PST, A RV4, N70AC, SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE FOLLOWING A HARD LANDING AT GEORGETOWN AIRPORT (E36) IN GEORGETOWN CA. THE PRIVATE PILOT INCURRED MINOR INJURIES. THE PILOT/OWNER WAS OPERATING THE AIRPLANE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS (CFR) PART 91 ON A CROSS-COUNTRY FLIGHT THAT DEPARTED, YOLO COUNTY AIRPORT (DWA) IN DAVIS CA, ABOUT 1140 PST, AND NO FLIGHT PLAN HAD BEEN FILED. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.THE PILOT STATED THAT HE MADE A NORMAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 160, AND THE SURFACE WIND WAS CALM. DURING LANDING, THE AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN HARD, THEN BOUNCED. WHEN THE PILOT APPLIED HARD BRAKES, HE LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE. THE AIRPLANE VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY AND CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN IN A MUDDY MEDIAN. THE PILOT REPORTED NO MECHANICAL IRREGULARITIES WITH THE AIRPLANE PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. A SEARCH OF THE FAA'S DATABASES DID NOT DISCLOSE ANY VIOLATION, ACCIDENT OR INCIDENT HISTORY.44709 REEXAMINATION WAS RECOMMENDED.
