## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS ON APPROACH TO MONROE REGIONAL AIRPORT. ATC REPORTED HE WAS TOO HIGH FOR THE GLIDESLOPE. HE WAS TRYING TO DESCEND TO CAPTURE THE GLIDESLOPE. HE DID ASK IF HE COULD GET DOWN FROM THE ALTITUDE HE WAS AT. HE DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE LAST TRANSMISSION FROM THE TOWER AND STARTED TO TURN TO THE RIGHT. HE DID NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THE TOWER ABOUT HIS TURN. RADAR CONTACT WAS LOST AT 1900 FEET. AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND IN A NEAR VERTICAL ANGLE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13FA143](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13FA143), Jan 24, 2013: Raytheon A36 (N980SS), Richwood, LA, destroyed, 4 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane during a missed approach in instrument meteorological conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
