## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) STATED THAT AT AN ALTITUDE OF 300 FEET AGL DURING THE CLIMBOUT THAT THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. HE CONDUCTED AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING APPROXIMATELY ONE QUARTER MILE NORTH OF AIRPORT MANATEE. DURING THE LANDING, THE NOSE GEAR, FIREWALL AND ENGINE ASSEMBLY BROKE APART FROM THE FUSELAGE. PIC WAS PINNED IN THE WRECKAGE.

FIRST RESPONDERS AND THIS INSPECTOR FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF FUEL SPILLAGE OR FUEL SMELL AT THE SCENE. APPROXIMATELY 2 OUNCES OF FUEL WAS RECOVERED FROM THE FUEL TANK.

THE PIC USED AUTO GAS FROM ONE OF TWO FIVE GALLON GAS CONTAINERS FOUND IN THE HANGAR. ONE CONTAINER WAS "BONE" DRY, THE OTHER FULL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA13LA119](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA13LA119), Jan 27, 2013: Shoemaker James B KR-2 (N27CE), Palmetto, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The total loss of engine power for undetermined reasons, which resulted in a forced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
