## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS PRACTICING TURNS OVER AN OPEN FIELD. AS HE CAME AROUND THE TURN THE SUN CAME OUT FROM BEHIND THE CLOUDS AND THE PILOT COULD NOT SEE FORWARD AND FLEW INTO A POWER LINE THAT CROSSED THE FIELD. ROTOR BLADES CAUGHT THE WIRES AND THE GYROCOPTER CAME DOWN IN THE FIELD. THE PILOT WALKED AWAY WITHOUT INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA13CA122](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA13CA122), Jan 29, 2013: Amirkhanian Shahram Charl Commander (N393GX), Westminster, MD, substantial damage. Probable cause: Impact with power lines due to the pilot’s obscured vision due to the low angle of the sun, which prevented the pilot from seeing the lines.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
