## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FLIGHT WAS SCHEDULED FOR A CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT TO FORT PIERCE (KFPR). UPON LEVELING OFF AT 3000 FEET THE PILOTS VISUALLY IDENTIFIED SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT AND CONTACTED DAYTONA BEACH AND N767ER WAS CLEARED TO RETURN TO DAYTONA BEACH AND TO FOLLOW THE SHORELINE TO RUNWAY 25R. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT GOT WORSE (DENSE) AND THAT THERE WAS FIRE BEHIND THE PANEL LIGHT SWITCH. CREW INFORMED ATC OF THEIR INTENTIONS TO LAND AT NEW SMYRNA (EVB). THEY LANDED SAFELY AT EVB AND THE CREW NOTICED THAT THE WIRES AND PANEL LIGHT KNOB WERE BURNED OUT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
