THE WRECKAGE WAS LOCATED BY WASHOE COUNTY RAVEN HELICOPTER AT APPROXIMATELY 1300 PST ON 02/07/2013, IN THE PINE NUT MOUNTAIN RANGE, 14 MILES EAST OF MINDEN-TAHOE AIRPORT (MEV). THE AIRCRAFT LEFT WING TIP HAD IMPACTED TERRAIN IN A NEAR VERTICAL POSITION AND THE MAIN WRECKAGE WAS SITUATED APPROXIMATELY 60 FEET FROM THE INITIAL IMPACT POINT. THE PILOT WAS FOUND DECEASED IN THE WRECKAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR13FA116](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR13FA116), Feb 7, 2013: Cessna 172S (N328SP), Minden, NV, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain airplane control while maneuvering over mountainous terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
