## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

A PILOT (OF ABOUT 2YRS) WAS PILOTING AN ULTRALIGHT AIRCRAFT OUT OF HOMESTEAD GENERAL AIRPORT ON A SIGHTSEEING PERSONAL FLIGHT TO THE EVERGLADES ALONG WITH ONE PASSENGER. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESCENDING WHEN AT APPROXIMATELY 25' ABOVE THE GROUND, THE AIRCRAFT LOST LIFT. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED A TREE ON THE BANK/SHOULDER OF THE CANAL. THE AIRCRAFT THEN HIT THE WATER WHERE THE PILOT AND PASSENGER EXITED THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA13CA130](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA13CA130), Feb 9, 2013: Dratbe Shmiel Amir Classic Edge X (N662DA), Miami, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's decision to fly at low altitude surrounded by tree, wire, and water hazards, and his failure to maintain clearance from those obstacles.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
