## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT DEPARTED PASO ROBLES (KPRB) FOR SAN LUIS OBISPO (KSPB) AT APPROXIMATELY 15:00 PST. 10 MINUTES INTO THE FLIGHT WHILE CLIMBING THROUGH 3,500 FEET THE ENGINE FAILED CATASTROPHICALLY. THE ATTEMPTED A RESTART ? BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND A ROUGH IDLE AND QUIT SHORTLY THEREAFTER. THE PILOT LANDED IN A DRY CREEK BED APPROXIMATELY 7 MILES SSW OF KPRB. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE PILOT WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
