## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON FEBRUARY 14, 2013, N7466D, A BEECHCRAFT DUKE, DEPARTED FROM FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS (KFSM) ON AN IFR FLIGHT TO ABILENE, TEXAS (KABI). THE PILOT WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT ONBOARD. DURING DESCENT TO ABILENE, AT APPROXIMATELY 10:30 CST, THE PILOT STATED THE RIGHT ENGINE QUIT RUNNING. HE ATTEMPTED TO CROSSFEED FROM THE OPPOSITE FUEL SYSTEM BUT WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE LEFT ENGINE QUIT RUNNING. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED MESQUITE TREES APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES NORTH OF THE ABILENE REGIONAL AIRPORT. SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED TO THE NOSE SECTION, BOTH ENGINE MOUNTS, BOTH WINGS AND FUSELAGE. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13CA162](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13CA162), Feb 14, 2013: Beech A60 (N7466D), Abilene, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper fuel management, which resulted in a loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
