## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT HAD RECENTLY RECEIVED AN ANNUAL CONDITION INSPECTION AND FLEW 30 MINUTES ON THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT ON CONVENTIONAL TYPE LANDING GEAR. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER THEN INSTALLED SKI TYPE LANDING GEAR AND DEPARTED ON THE ACCIDENT FLIGHT. 30 MINUTES AFTER TAKEOFF THE AIRCAFT WAS OBSERVED BY A CREDIBLE EYEWITNESS MAKING A LOW PASS NEAR THE ACCIDENT SITE . THE AIRCRAFT THEN MADE ANOTHER PASS AT A LOW ALTITUDE, ON A NORTHERLY HEADING BUT WAS OBSERVED TO BE FLYING AT A SLOWER SPEED. THE AIRCRAFT SUDDENLY PITCHED DOWN, IMPACTED TREES AND SUBSEQUENTLY A SNOW PILE NARROWLY MISSING A HOUSE. FUEL WAS OBSERVED POURING ONTO THE PASSENGER AFTER IMPACT. PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE EXTRACTED FROM WRECKAGE AND HOSPITALIZED.

03/19/2013//FAA INSPECTOR DAVIS CONTACTED PILOTS BROTHER WHO DESCRIBED THE PILOTS CURRENT MEDICAL CONDITION AS STILL HOSPITALIZED AND SUFFERING FROM SHORT TERM MEMORY LOSS. PASSENGER SUSTAINED LESS INJURIES, HAS BEEN RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL BUT IS STILL UNDERGOING RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC13LA026](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC13LA026), Feb 28, 2013: Isaak Paul G Isaak Super CUB (N130Z), Sterling, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain adequate airspeed while maneuvering at low altitude, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
