## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE STUDENT PILOT WAS RETURNING TO HIS HOME AIRPORT AFTER PRACTICING TAKE-OFFS AND LANDINGS AT ANOTHER AIRPORT. HE DECIDED TO LAND AT A NEARBY LAKE AND VIST A FRIEND. HE TOUCHED DOWN IN AB9UT 12 INCHES OF SLUSH, WET SNOW AND STANDING WATER. ON ROLLOUT( A VERY SHORT DISTANCE), THE NOSEWHEEL BENT BACK AND EMBEDED IN THE FIREWALL. THE PROP STRUCK THE SNOW, BENT BACK AROUND THE COWL AND STOPPED THE ENGINE. THE PILOT EXITED WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THERE WAS NO FIRE. DEPUTY KIM EMERY OF THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE ARRIVED AND TOOK STATEMENTS AND PICTURES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA13LA151](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA13LA151), Mar 2, 2013: Cessna 150 (N3438J), Naples, ME, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot’s improper decision to land on a frozen lake.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
