## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MARCH 6, 2013 CESSNA CARAVAN N 51942, THE PROPERTY OF CESSNA AIRCRAFT COMPANY, WICHITA, KANSAS, WAS CONDUCTING FLIGHT TESTS AT WICHITA MIDCONTINENT AIRPORT, WICHITA, KANSAS (KICT).

N51942 HOLDS AN EXPERIMENTAL AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE FOR THE PURPOSES OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT.

DURING THIS FLIGHT, THE AIRCRAFT WAS BEING TESTED TO RESEARCH LANDING CHARECTERISTICS WITH SIMULATED ICE SHAPES ATTACHED TO FLIGHT SURFACES.

DURING THE LAST LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT DROPPED FROM APPROXIMAELY 10 FEET, LANDING HARD. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO ADD POWER TO ARREST THE SINK RATE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE HARD LANDING BENT THE MAIN GEAR AND BLEW OUT THE NOSE GEAR TIRE. NO OTHER DAMAGE WAS SUFFERED BY THE AIRCRAFT AND THE CREW WERE NOT INJURED.

SINCE THERE WAS NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE OR INJURIES THIS HAS BEEN CLASSIFIED AS AN INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
