## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UPON TOUCHDOWN AT MONTGOMERY FIELD (KMYF) RUNWAY 28R, THE AIRCRAFTS RIGHT MAIN GEAR STRUT BRACE FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO SETTLE ON THE RIGHT STRUT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS STOPPED ON THE RUNWAY AND THE TOWER TEMPORARILY CLOSED THE RUNWAY.

THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO OBTAIN A REPLACEMENT PART FROM HIS HANGAR ON THE AIRFIELD. THE STRUT WAS REPLACED ON THE RUNWAY, AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS TAXIED BACK TO THE OWNERS HANGAR. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND ONLY VERY MINOR FABRIC DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING.

AN AIRWORTHINESS AVIATION SAFETY INSPECTOR ASSISTED IN THE INCIDENT INVESTIGATION. HIS REVIEW OF THE AIRCRAFT LOG BOOKS INDICATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS PROPERLY MAINTAINED. FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE FAILED STRUT PART INDICATED THAT A WELD JOINT HAD FAILED AFTER 67 YEARS OF USE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
