## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MARCH 15, 2013, AT APPROXIMATELY 3:30 EST, A CESSNA 172M, OPERATING UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS (CFR) PART 91, WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED WHEN IT IMPACTED A HANGER WHILE TRYING TO LAND AT 8NC9, A GRASS STRIP IN HENDERSONVILLE, NC. THE STUDENT PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITH ONLY MINOR INJURIES.

PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS RETURNING FROM A SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FROM (KAND) ANDERSON, SC AND WAS LANDING FROM THE NORTH ON RUNWAY 15. AT MID FIELD HE INITIATED A GO AROUND BUT WAS BLOW OFF COURSE, WHICH RESULTED IN CONTACT WITH A HANGER AND POWER LINES TO THE EAST SIDE OF THE FIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA13CA170](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA13CA170), Mar 15, 2013: Cessna 172M (N61756), Hendersonville, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot’s failure to maintain control of the airplane during an attempted go-around in gusty tailwind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
