## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UPON ARRIVING TO THE SCENE OF THE AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO COME DOWN AT A STEEP ANGLE THROUGH THE TREES CANOPY. ALL THREE PROPELLER BLADES WERE SHATTERED AT THE TIPS WITH ONE OF THE BLADES SEVERED FROM THE HUB. THE TREE TRUNK NEXT TO WHERE THE ENGINE AND PROPELLER CAME TO REST HAD SLASH MARKS AS IF THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ON THE WAY DOWN.

FUEL WAS PRESENT IN THE TANK AS WELL AS THE CLEAR FUEL LINES LEADING TO THE CARBURETOR. A BROKEN FITTING WAS FOUND AT THE SURFACE END OF THE RH ELEVATOR CONTROL CABLE. THE BROKEN PART WAS REMOVED AND SENT TO THE NTSB FOR ANALYSIS. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THE BREAK OCCURRED PRE OR POST-CRASH.

THE PILOT HAS UNDERGONE MULTIPLE SURGERIES AND HAS BEEN UNABLE TO MAKE A STATEMENT AS TO HIS RECOLLECTION OF THE EVENTS WHICH ULTIMATELY RESULTED IN THE AIRCRAFTS ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA13LA171](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA13LA171), Mar 16, 2013: Mcnulty John S Aerolite 103 (N2549W), Immokalee, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power due to the seizure of the magneto piston.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
