## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

RECEIVED A CALL AT APPROXIMATELY 1121 FROM ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AT CHICAGO CITY OPERATIONS NOTIFYING ME THAT A FLAP FAIRING FELL OFF OF A CHINA CARGO B-747, B-2426 INBOUND FROM ANC ON LANDING AT RUNWAY 10 AT ORD. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED THAT THE FAIRING WAS PICKED UP OFF THE RUNWAY AND WAS IN HIS POSSESSION. PER MY REQUEST ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HELD ONTO THE FAIRING UNTIL I COULD MEET HIM AND THE CHINA CARGO AIRCRAFT AT SOUTH CARGO (SC) GATE NUMBER 2. UPON ARRIVING TO THE AIRCRAFT AND FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT APPEARED AS THOUGH THE # 7 FLAP FAIRING ATTACH POINTS FAILED UPON LANDING ON RUNWAY 10 FOLLOWED BY THE FLAP FAIRING DEPARTING THE AIRCRAFT. STRESS CRACKS WERE IDENTIFIED ON THE ATTACH POINT FITTINGS ON THE FLAP FAIRING. FLIGHT CHECK MAINTENANCE WAS ON THE SCENE AS WELL AND THEY CONDUCTED AN INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT FOR ANY FURTHER DAMAGE. FLIGHT CHECK FOUND NO FURTHER DEFECTS AND DEFERRED THE #7 FLAP FAIRING IAW CDL 27-51-02.I CONTACTED CHINA CARGO IFO PMI AT (310) 725-7327 AND DE- BRIEFED HIM ON THE INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
