## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N995SP WAS TAXING FOR TAKEOFF WITH THREE PASSENGERS ON BOARD, IN THE VICINITY OF LAKE LOT #63. THE SNOW WAS SO DEEP THAT THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND SLID INTO N8216C, WHICH WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED AT LAKE LOT #63. ANCHORAGE AIRPORT POLICE FILED REPORT CASE NUMBER 13-0276 ON 03/26/13. N8216C (PARKED CUB) WAS DAMAGED ON RIGHT WING LEADING EDGE AND PROPELLER. N995SP DAMAGED ON LEFT LIFT STRUT, LEFT AILERON AND WING BENT AT ROOT ATTACH AREA.

PIC STATED SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 14 TO 16 INCHES OF SNOW ON TAXIWAY WAS RUTTED IN ZIG ZAG PATTERN BY OTHER AIRCRAFT. HARD PACKED RUTS CAUSED AIRCRAFT TO PULL RIGHT. PILOT CORRECTED WITH LEFT RUDDER. AIRCRAFT WENT LEFT OF CENTER AND PILOT APPLIED HARD RIGHT RUDDER AND RIGHT BRAKE AIRCRAFT DID NOT RESPOND. LEFT EDGE OF TAXIWAY SLOPES 12 TO 14 DEGREES FROM CROWN TOWARD AIRCRAFT PARKING AREAS BETWEEN TAXIWAY AND LAKE. PILOT CLOSED THROTTLE AND PULLED MIXTURE AND CONTINUED APPLYING BRAKES. WHEELS CONTINUED TO ROLL WITH BRAKES APPLIED (ORIGINAL DHC BRAKES WITH GOOD PADS) AIRCRAFT FINALLY STOPPED BY SLOW IMPACT WITH N8216C (PARKED CUB ON FLOATS IN LAKE LOT 63).

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC13CA037](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC13CA037), Mar 26, 2013: Dehavilland DHC-2 MK. I(L20A) (N995SP), Anchorage, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control of the airplane while taxiing on a snow-covered taxiway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
