## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS ESTABLISHED ON DOWNWIND FOR RUNWAY 13 AT KAXN. ABEAM THE THRESHOLD FOR RUNWAY 13, THE PILOT SELECTED FLAPS TO 50%. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS, HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT AND IT BEGAN TO ROLL RIGHT.

THE PILOT CORRECTED WITH FULL LEFT AILERON TO ATTEMPT TO LEVEL THE WINGS. HE DETERMINED THAT HE WOULD BE UNABLE TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT AS IT WAS BECOMING UNCONTROLLABLE SO HE APPLIED FULL POWER TO CLIMB FOR CHUTE DEPLOYMENT.

AS HE CLIMBED, HE SELECTED THE FLAPS TO 100% AND THE AIRCRAFT THEN ENTERED A RIGHT HAND SPIRAL. HE THEN ACTIVATED THE BALLISTIC RECOVERY SYSTEM (BRS).

THE CHUTE DEPLOYED AND THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED A FROZEN LAKE, CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRFRAME AND MINOR INJURIES TO THE OCCUPANTS.
