## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS DISPATCHED FROM ANC TO THE TALKEETNA AREA ON A SEARCH AND RESCUE MISSION. THE PILOT WENT TO THE TALKEETNA TROOPER STATION TO PICK UP A STATE TROOPER FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE ASSISTANCE. THE TROOPER HELICOPTER DEPARTED TALKEETNA ENROUTE TO LARSON LAKE AREA SEARCHING FOR THE INJURED SNOWMOBILE OPERATOR. THE RESCUE TEAM LOCATED THE INDIVIDUAL AND LANDED ON A SMALL LAKE TO RETRIEVE THIS INDIVIDUAL FOR MEDICAL TRANSPORT. THE PILOT REPORTED TO DISPATCH THAT HE WAS ENROUTE TO THE MEDICAL PICK UP LOCATION. THE AIRCRAFT NEVER ARRIVED AT THE PICK UP LOCATION AND THERE WAS NO FURTHER RADIO CONTACT FROM THE TROOPER HELICOPTER. THE HELICOPTER WRECKAGE WAS LOCATED THE NEXT MORNING APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES FROM WHERE THE MEDICAL PATIENT WAS LOCATED. THE PILOT APPEARS TO HAVE BECOME DISORIENTED IN FLIGHT, STRUCK SOME TREES PRIOR TO A FORCEFUL CONTACT WITH THE GROUND. THE HELICOPTER RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE PRIOR TO THE POST IMPACT FIRE.
