## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APRIL 08, 2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 2332Z, THE PILOT FAILED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF CESSNA AIRCRAFT MODEL CE-172-K DURING TAKE OFF ON A 14 CFR PART 91 PLEASURE FLIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DEPARTING WOLFE AIR PARK (3T2) IN MANVEL, TEXAS ON RUNWAY 20 WHEN THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. THE PILOT AND HIS TWO (2) PASSENGERS HAD LANDED AT 3T2 10 MINUTES EARLIER ON RUNWAY 020. THE PILOT BROUGHT THE AIRCRAFT TO A FULL STOP AT THE END OF RUNWAY 020, TURNED THE AIRCRAFT AROUND AND WAITED 10 MINUTES BEFORE TAKING OF ON RUNWAY 20. THE CLOSEST WEATHER REPORTING FACILITY (LBX) WAS REPORTING WINDS FROM 130 AT 12 GUSTING TO 21. THIS WAS A FAIRLY CLOSE MATCH TO THE ATIS WEATHER THE PILOT RECEIVED BY RADIO WHICH WAS WINDS FROM 140 AT 20-22 KNOTS. THE PILOT ATTEMPTING TAKE OFF ON RUNWAY 20 WITH THE WINDS FROM 130 WOULD ENCOUNTER A RIGHT CORNERING TAIL WIND. AT THE POINT OF ROTATION, DURING TAKE OFF ROLL, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE LEFT. THE LEFT MAIN GEAR, THE LEFT WING TIP AND THE NOSE GEAR STRUCK THE GROUND AND DUG INTO THE SOFT MUDDY TERRAIN CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP ON ITS BACK. THE SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WAS TO BOTH WING SPARS, THE VERTICAL STABILIZER, RUDDER AND THE SHEARING OF THE NOSE GEAR. THE PILOT WAS UNINJURED AND THE 2 PASSENGERS HAD MINOR INJURIES TREATED AT THE SCENE. THE AIRCRAFT REGISTRATION WAS CURRENT AND THE AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE WAS ON BOARD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
