## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE PICKING UP A BANNER THE PILOT SNAGGED THE TOW ROPE USED TO PICK UP THE BANNER ON THE AIRCRAFT NOSE GEAR WHICH DRAGGED THE AIRCRAFT DOWN TOWARDS THE GROUND. THE TOW ROPE BROKE, RELEASING THE AIRCRAFT DRAG BUT IT WAS TO LATE AND THE AIRCRAFT HIT THE TAXIWAY IN A FLAT ALTITUDE BREAKING OFF THE NOSE GEAR AND LEFT MAIN WAS TWISTED TO THE REAR 90 DEGREES. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST OFF THE TAXIWAY IN A GRASSY AREA ABOUT 20 FEET FROM A HANGER. THE PILOT WAS HELPED FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13CA246](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13CA246), Apr 28, 2013: Cessna 172N (N737FK), New Orleans, LA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to perform a steep climb before going around following a low pass for a banner tow pickup.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
