## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING A PERSONAL/INSTRUCTION FLIGHT AT ROTATION DURING TAKEOFF, THE STUDENT PILOT AND INSTRUCTOR REPORTED THAT THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED AGGRESSIVELY TO THE RIGHT. BOTH THE STUDENT PILOT AND THE INSTRUCTOR TRIED TO ARREST THE UNCOMMANDED RIGHT ROLL WITH LEFT AILERON AND LEFT RUDDER INPUTS. FULL LEFT AILERON AND LEFT RUDDER WERE NEEDED TO KEEP THE WINGS LEVEL.

FLIGHT CONTROL CONTINUITY, PROPER DIRECTION OF TRAVEL AND PROPER OPERATION WERE CONFIRMED ON SCENE BY AN FAA INSPECTOR.

THE PILOTS INDICATED THAT WHEN THE THROTTLE WAS BROUGHT BACK TO AN IDLE SETTING THE ENGINE REMAINED AT A HIGHER RPM THAN THE THROTTLE WAS SET AND THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF USING THE MAGNETO SWITCH.

THROTTLE CONTROL CONTINUITY, PROPER TRAVEL AND OPERATION WERE CONFIRMED BY AN FAA INSPECTOR ON SCENE. ALTHOUGH THE CARBURETOR WAS REPAIRED AND REINSTALLED 2 FLIGHT HOURS PRIOR TO THIS EVENT, NO ANOMALIES WITH THE INSTALLATION OR CONTROL ATTACHMENTS OF THE CARBURETOR WERE NOTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC13CA043](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC13CA043), May 5, 2013: Piper PA-11 (N4772M), Soldotna, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor's inadequate supervision of the student pilot during takeoff, which resulted in a loss of control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
