## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS RETURNING FROM A PERSONAL FLIGHT TO STAPLES, MN (KSAZ). DURING THE LANDING FLARE, HE REDUCED POWER AND THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT DROPPED.

HE ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT BY ADDING BACK PRESSURE, BUT THE AIRCRAFT PORPOISED TWICE BEFORE HE ADDED FULL POWER AND ATTEMPTED TO GO-AROUND.

DURING THE SECOND PORPOISE, THE PROP STRUCK THE RUNWAY, DAMAGING ALL THREE PROPELLER BLADES. AS THE PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING THE GO-AROUND THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE RUNWAY AND SHEARED OFF THE TIE DOWN RING.

THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED IN A NOSE HIGH ATTITUDE AND DRIFTED OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF RUNWAY 32, SUBSEQUENTLY STRIKING A RUNWAY EDGE LIGHT AND RUNWAY END IDENTIFIER LIGHT (REIL).

AFTER THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY SURFACE, IT BECAME AIRBORNE FOR A SHORT TIME BEFORE SETTLING INTO A PLOWED CORN FIELD. PILOT IS LOCATING HIS RECORDS AND LOG BOOKS FOR TOTAL TIME AND HOURS LAST YEAR. THOS EFLIGHT TIMES ARE NOT A ISSUE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13LA261](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13LA261), May 6, 2013: Cirrus Design SR20 (N161KT), Staples, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s misjudged landing flare, which resulted in a porpoised landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
