PILOT STATED HE HAD PURCHASED THE AIRCRAFT AND WAS FLYING IT BACK TO HIS HOME. WHEN THE PIC LANDED FOR A FUEL STOP IN RIVERTON, WY HE SAID THE NOSE GEAR LANDING LIGHT FLICKERED AND WENT OUT WHILE HE WAS TAXIING INTO THE RAMP. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL LOOKED AT THE AIRCRAFT AND DETERMINED A LINKAGE IN THE NOSE GEAR WAS BROKEN AND WELDED IT BACK TOGETHER.

THE PIC CONTINUED HIS FLIGHT WESTBOUND AND MADE A SECOND STOP IN JACKSON HOLE, WY BECAUSE OF WEATHER. THE PIC SAID WHEN HE WAS ABOUT TO TAKEOFF FROM JACKSON HOLE; THE NOSE GEAR LIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN. THE PIC SAID MAINTENANCE LOOK AT IT AND DID NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS.

THE PIC CONTINUED HIS FLIGHT TO PENDLETON, OR LANDING ON RUNWAY 7. AFTER LANDING, THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED VEERING THE AIRCRAFT OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY ABOUT 4,000 FEET FROM THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE NOSE GEAR AND PROPELLER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
