ON 05/27/2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 17:58 EDT AIRCRAFT N4489F, A PIPER PA-32R-300, WAS DESTROYED FOLLOWING A COLLISION WITH TERRAIN. THE PILOT MADE AN ATTEMPT TO LAND AT MIDDLE GEORGIA REGIONAL AIRPORT (MCN) AFTER REPORTING A SLIGHT LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE. THE PILOT SHORTLY THERE AFTER REPORTED THAT HIS ENGINE HAD QUIT AND THAT HE WAS NOT GOING TO MAKE MCN AND REQUESTED TO LAND AT WARNER ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE (WRB). THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE TERRAIN .8 MILES NORTHEAST OF RUNWAY 15 AT WRB. THE PILOT, AN ATP, AND THE PASSENGER, A PRIVATE PILOT, BOTH WERE FATALLY INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA13FA256](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA13FA256), May 27, 2013: Piper PA-32R-300 (N4489F), Macon, GA, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power due to oil starvation for reasons that could not be determined due to extensive postcrash fire and heat damage to the engine components.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
