## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 4, 2013, THE PILOT DEPARTED BOONE COUNTY AIRPORT AT 12:40 PM LOCAL TIME FOR A LOCAL 20 TO 30 MINUTE VFR FLIGHT.

UPON RETURNING TO THE BOONE COUNTY AIRPORT HE ATTEMPTED A CROSSWIND LANDING ON THE GRASS THAT RUNS PARALLEL TO RUNWAY 18. THE PILOT LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL DUE TO IMPROPER USE OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS, RESULTING IN THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTING THE GRASSY RUNWAY INTO A MUDDY CORNFIELD. THIS CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO NOSE OVER ONTO ITS BACK.

VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS WITH WINDS OF 6-10 KNOTS FROM THE EAST PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED AND THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER, LEFT WING STRUTS, WINGS, AND VERTICAL STABILIZER.
