## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N5500Y A MAULE M7-260C TAILWHEEL AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN CLEARED FOR AN IMMEDIATE TAKE OFF AT RUNWAY 27 INTERSECTION B. THE AIRMAN STATED HE PUSHED THE POWER UP AND STARTED ROLLING WHEN HIS SON SHOUTED "STOP, STOP, STOP!" THE PILOT STATED HE IMEDIATELY APPLIED BRAKES AND REDUCED POWER BUT THE AIRCRAFT PITCHED OVER ON ITS NOSE. THE PILOT'S SON HAD SEEN A RUNWAY SIGN FOR 5/23 AND BLUE TAXIWAY LIGHTS AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS HEADING STRAIGHT FOR THEM EVEN THOUGH HE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TAXIWAY. THE PILOT STATED HE DID NOT ANTICIPATE OBSTACLES IN THE MIDDLE OF A TAXIWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
