## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER DEPARTURE THE PILOT NOTICED THE FUEL CAPS HAD NOT BEEN SECURED AND FUEL WAS VENTING FROM THE FUEL FILLER PORTS. THE PILOT RETURNED TO THE DEPARTURE AIRPORT AND UPON LANDING FAILED TO EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR THUS LANDING THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE LANDING GEAR FIRMLY IN THE WELLS. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE AND A SMALL FIRE ERUPTED ON THE LEFT WING WHEN SPARKS GENERATED DUE TO THE GEAR-UP LANDING IGNITED FUEL VENTED FROM THE UNSECURED FUEL CAP.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
