## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRMAN CONDUCTED LANDING AT UNIMPROVED AIRSTRIP, HAVING NEVER LANDED THERE BEFORE. AIRMAN'S APPROACH WAS HIGHER THAN NECESSARY TO CLEAR TREES AT APPROACH END. AIRCRAFT ESTIMATED TO HAVE TOUCHED DOWN IN THE LAST 1/3 OF THE RUNWAY; AIRMAN UNABLE TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT, WHICH THEN EXITED THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY, CROSSING A ROAD AND COMING TO REST AMONG SMALL TREES ON THE OTHER SIDE, RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR13CA273](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR13CA273), Jun 16, 2013: Piper PA-28-140 (N199), Coolin, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain an adequate glide path, which led to a runway excursion and collision with objects.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
