## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

LAUNCHED BALLOON FROM A FIELD BEHIND WAL-MART ON RTE 28 IN SALEM, NH, WITH FOUR (4) PASSENGERS. DESTINATION WAS A FIELD OFF OF EMERSON AVENUE IN HAMPSTEAD, NH. PILOT STATED THAT A BRISK WIND HIT THE BALLOON FROM HIS 10 O'CLOCK, BALLOON WAS PUSHED SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT WHERE TREES LINED THE ROADWAY. PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS COMMITTED TO LAND AND DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH LIFT TO CLIMB ABOVE THE TREE LINE AND THE BASKET CAUGHT THE TREE TOP. THE WIND CONTINUED TO INCREASE, ROLLING THE BASKET AROUND THE TREE AND IN BETWEEN POWER LINES. AS THE BASKET ROTATED, ONE OF THE SUSPENSION CABLES SNAGGED THE INSULATOR ATOP THE POLE PREVENTING THE PILOT FROM GETTING FREE. PILOT KEPT THE BALLOON ALOFT AT TREETOP LEVEL UNTIL THE POWER COMPANY TURN OFF THE ELECTRICITY, THEN I LOWERED THE BASKET TO THE GROUND AND OFFLOADED THE PASSENGERS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
