## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS ENROUTE FROM MANITOWOC, WI (MTW) TO MADISON, WI (MSN) AT 2,500 FEET. IN THE VICINITY OF LEIPSIG, WI THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO SWITCH FROM THE LEFT TO RIGHT FUEL TANK AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL SELECTOR VALVE HANDLE WOULD NOT MOVE. WHILE DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM, THE ENGINE FAILED DUE TO FUEL STARVATION. THE PILOT THEN EXECUTED A FORCED LANDING IN A PLANTED CORN FIELD. SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION DETERMINED THAT THE LEFT FUEL TANK CONTAINED NO FUEL AND THE RIGHT FUEL TANK CONTAINED APPROXIMATELY 15 GALLONS OF FUEL.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
