## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS PERFORMING IN AN AIRSHOW WHEN HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND STARTED TO NOTICE DECREASED PERFORMANCE IN THE AIRCRAFT. PILOT IMMEDIATELY ALERTED AIR BOSS AND TURNED TOWARD THE AIRPORT. OIL THEN CAME OUT OF THE ENGINE AND COVERED THE PILOT WINDOW PREVENTING PILOT FROM SEEING OUTSIDE. PILOT OPENED THE AIRCRAFT CANOPY TO PROVIDE VISIBILITY, THE CANOPY HIT THE PILOT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS FACE AND DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT SLIPPED THE AIRCRAFT TO A SUCCESSFUL LANDING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
