## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 23, 2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 16:30 CDT, N6017E, AN AIR TRACTOR AT-502B OPERATED BY CAMPBELL AERIAL SPRAYING INC. (RMQG) ATTEMPTED TO DEPART ON A PRIVATE STRIP 4 MILES NORTH AND 1/2 MILE WEST OF CAMPBELL, NEBRASKA. THE PILOT REPORTED PRIOR TO THE TAKE-OFF ROLL, HE APPLIED TWO NOTCHES OF FLAPS. DURING THE TAKE-OFF ROLL THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE WAS PRODUCING POWER; HOWEVER, THE AIRCRAFT WOULD NOT LIFT OFF. PASSING THE POINT ON THE RUNWAY OF BEING ABLE TO STOP, THE PILOT ADDED FULL FLAPS AND THE AIRCRAFT LIFTED OFF THE RUNWAY INTO GROUND EFFECT. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO SETTLE AND THE PILOT REDUCED POWER AND PREPARED TO LAND. THE AIRCRAFT COLLIDED WITH TERRAIN APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED AND THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13LA371](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13LA371), Jun 23, 2013: Air Tractor AT-502B (N6017E), Campbell, NE, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to continue with the takeoff roll despite the airplane's difficulty becoming airborne The high-density altitude likely contributed to the airplane's reduced performance.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
