## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UPDATE: AUTOPSY REPORT DATED SEPTEMBER 20, 2013; CAUSE OF DEATH ? PILOT ?SUCCUMBED TO A COMPLICATION OF HIS CARDIAC DISEASE WHILE PILOTING THE AIRCRAFT AND DIED PRIOR TO THE PLANE CRASHING.?

ORIGINAL:

FOLLOWING TWO UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTED LANDINGS AT NIGHT, AT AN UNLIT PRIVATE AIRPORT, THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK TREES AND ELECTRICAL POWER LINES. A POST-CRASH FIRE COMPLETELY DESTROYED THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT AND FATALITY. CAUSE OF DEATH COULD NOT BE DETERMINED AS OF THE WRITING OF THIS REPORT. RADAR DATA SHOWS THAT THE AIRCRAFT MANEUVERED IN THE VICINITY OF THE AIRPORT AT 200-400? AGL AFTER THE TWO ATTEMPTED LANDINGS. THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AT IMPACT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13LA377](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13LA377), Jun 28, 2013: Dankelman Peter G RV-7A (N445RV), Marion, TX, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s sudden incapacitation and natural death as a result of cardiovascular disease.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
