## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 5, 2013 AT 1135 LOCAL N1441T A PIPER PA-28-140 ATTEMPTED TAKEOFF AND DEPARTURE FROM BLAIRSTOWN NJ, 1N7 RUNWAY 25. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT APPROACHED THE TREE LINE 249 DEGREES AND 2,985 FEET FROM THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 25 WITNESSES STATED THE AIRCRAFT PITCHED NOSE UP TO THE POINT THE TOP OF THE ENGINE COWLING AND WINGS COULD BE SEEN. THE AIRCRAFT CLEARED THE TREES, STALLED AND LANDED IN THE FRONT YARD OF A HOME CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. WITNESSES AND THE PILOT STATED THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE AND IT APPEARED TO BE MAKING FULL POWER. THE PILOT STATED THE ?STALL WARNING LIGHT? WAS ON WHEN HE PITCHED UP TO AVOID THE TREES BUT COULD NOT RECALL EXACTLY WHEN IT WAS ACTIVATED. PREFLIGHT PLANNING BY THE PIC SHOWED THE AIRCRAFT WEIGHT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT AT 2,084 LBS. MAX GROSS WEIGHT FOR THE AIRCRAFT IS 2,150 LBS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA13CA316](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA13CA316), Jul 5, 2013: Piper PA-28-140 (N1441T), Blairstown, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight's encounter with a downdraft from a ridge shortly after takeoff resulting in a loss of lift and collision with terrain during an uncontrolled descent.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
