## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 10, 2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30PM A 1996 AYRES CORPORATION, MODEL S2R-T34 WAS PERFORMING A POST MAINTENANCE TEST FLIGHT IN CONJUNCTION WITH A NOZZLE CALIBRATION FLIGHT. UPON RETURNING TO THE DEPARTURE FIELD, A PRIVATE STRIP, LOCATED IN THE VICINITY OF COY, ARKANSAS, THE PILOT REDUCED THE ENGINE TO A FLIGHT IDLE POSITION AND THE PROPELLER WENT INTO BETA MODE CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO TAKE A HARD BOUNCE SLIGHTLY SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. THE LEFT WING TIP CONTACTED A FUEL POD THAT WAS POSITIONED THERE TO POWER AN IRRIGATION PUMP. THE FUEL POD WAS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET FROM THE CENTER LINE OF THE RUNWAY AND AT THE VERY END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS BEING OPERATED BY A COMMERICIALY RATED PILOT. THERE WAS NO FLIGHT PLAN FILED AND NO INJURIES. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING TIP/SPAR AND THE PROPELLER BLADES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN13LA414](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN13LA414), Jul 10, 2013: Ayres S2R-T41 (N2239B), Coy, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The propeller’s uncommanded reverse thrust during the landing flare due to improper rigging of the propeller’s governor linkage.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
