## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING A CHARTER FLIGHT THAT STARTED AT THE WATERFRONT BASE IN KETCHIKAN ENROUTE TO SHIPLEY BAY, THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER JUST PAST THE NORTH END OF LAKE GALENA. THE PILOT TURNED LEFT TO LAND IN THE LAKE AND CONTINUED TO LOSE POWER. AT THE SOUTH END OF THE LAKE THE PILOT MADE ANOTHER LEFT TURN TO LAND AND THE ENGINE LOST COMPLETE POWER. THE PILOT APPLIED FULL THROTTLE AND DECENDED INTO THE TREES AT THE SOUTHWEST END OF THE LAKE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC13LA068](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC13LA068), Jul 24, 2013: Dehavilland Beaver DHC 2 (N4787C), Thorne Bay, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the No. 1 linkrod bushing or the bottom portion of the linkrod, which resulted in a total loss of engine power.
